My PC crashes (turns off, no blue screen etc) when playing games. It only
happens when there is a spike in activity; i.e. an increase in screen
graphics.
My PC has XP home, enough memory free, I have
- Checked Events manager, no error log reports of crashes,
- Checked Device manager, no conflicting drivers,
- Tried updating / troubled shooting drivers; i.e. Direct X (v9) is working
ok,
- Cleaned the fans, there seems to be enough power
thanks in advance

Try this:
http://www3.telus.net/dandemar/slowcom.htm

Otherwise since this is a Windows Update newsgroup, you should take this to
a Windows XP newsgroup:
http://aumha.org/nntp.htm
