CRCDISK.SYS when pluggin in sata drive

firstly ill start with my computer specs

AMD 64 3500
2GB ram
Geforce 7950
20gb Maxtor IDE (vista is installed on)
300gb Seagate SATA HDD (hdd with problems)

everytime i plug in my sata drive my computer freezes on CRCDISK.SYS
and computer just keeps on restarting. ive read the forums and havent found
a soloution for this problem as yet. if there is a solution could someone
possibly point me to it or repost it please
