I am using Windows Mail in both XP and Window 7. I created a folder titled
"My Messages" in both mainly to keep track of online payment
notifications...confirmations etc; The folder disappeared and reappeared in
both and are now completely gone. Has anyone else had this issue and can it
be fixed?

Using a Live ID to sign on to Windows Live ?
Where was the folder created ?
- Pop3 or Http setup account or Storage Folders
Was it a subfolder under an existing folder ?

Fyi...http accounts(hotmail.com, live.com, msn.com) in WLM or the web UI(mail.live.com) only permit creation of a folder under the
email account, but not subfolders.

Considering that "Windows Mail" is only available in Windows Vista, that is
an interesting comment. Perhaps you meant, "Windows Live Mail", which can be
run in Windows XP, Windows Vista, and/or Windows 7.

For "synchronizing" accounts, such as IMAP, or HTTPMail, you will get best
results by creating the folders in the web view online, using your browser.
Then you will be certain you don't run into quirks of the server which can
wreak havoc on folders created in the client.

For POP3 accounts, you should create the folders under "Storage folders"
because any folders created under the account tree are "ephemeral", and will
go away if you fail to heed the warnings while deleting POP3 accounts.

Overall, it is probably best to use the Storage folders for all user created
folders.
