First, zone transfers are not enabled by default. You would have to go into
the primary zone properties, zone transfer tab, and allow it.
Second, if the zone is in another domain, but the zone is AD integrated set
to Forest-wide replication scope, then it will cause a duplicate zone issue
in the AD database, and since it is a only a secondary, the domain
controller will reject the creation and normally change it to a primary AD
integrated zone.
It would be better to understand your infrastructure in detail to better
assist. Let us know if the two domains are in the same forest or in
different forests. If a child domain, you wouldn't want to setup
secondaries, rather use parent-child delegation. If the two domains are in
completely different forests, you can use secondaries, stubs or Conditional
Forwarding (the latter being my choice).
