Creating a preserved restore point & restore a recovery CDs

I just went through restoring my system back to the factory state after
failed MS Windows XP SP3 update attempts that made my system unstable. Got
allot of good advice from this community group, but didn’t work out for me.
Before this restore months ago I had created a restore point but when I tried
to go back the saved point, my restore dates would not go back that far and
all the restore points created automatically that were available failed with
a message that said to try another date.

Now that I have good system state is there a way to create a restore point
that I can preserve indefinitely?

Or is there a utility with Windows XP to create a system / recovery CD that
will return the system to a saved point.

No Restore points are very temporary by nature.

Make a backup with either Ghost or ATI. They aren't free, but they do have
the great advantage
of working correctly.

As an example, I restored my laptop to a previous ATI backup is short order.
I did this in early March using a backup file from November.
This backup used two double layered DVDs. CDs are rather impractical for
system backup because they are so small.

Acronis & Paragon might be a consideration for imaging your drive -

Acronis for all your backup and data recovery needs - easy to use

Home and Office, Small Business & Medium and Large Business Utilities for hard disk
management etc

Thanks TaurArian & Jim, these products look like they will do exactly what I
need and they are not to costly.

I was hoping there was something delivered with the Windows OS that would do
this function, but at this point I don't ever want to go through restoring my
system to the factory settings and add tons of applications back.

Thanks again!
