Creating a restore point now involves waiting while there is some
"searching" going on,
before the option to create becomes live.
Restoring, or rather getting to the dialogue box to choose a restore point
takes even longer
(or maybe it just seems that way because with this you don't even get a
message or indication that
anything is happening at all until the dialogue box pops up).
Is this just Vista (x64) being thorough and collecting info to do a more
efficient job ?
Or is it indexing (or some other housekeeping disk activity) that has to
finish before system
restore can take control?
I'm sure it didn't take this long before (but then I have been installing
all my programs onto
a clean system and am prepared to believe that this makes a difference)
Is this normal and a consequence of system restore having more work to do
after loading all
my programs (and thus taking longer) or is it something I should be
concerned about?
I have a powerfull system with lots of RAM so it isn't that, and apart from
the odd teething trouble
that you naturally get when loading a new system everything else seems
fine.
The only other point I can think of worth mentioning is that Diskeeper
reports that my MFT
has a high usage and is in danger of fragmenting.
Any advice (or reassurance) would be welcome.
