When are you getting this error? Are you synchronizing to an Exchange
server or to your local workstation? Have you tried a soft reset?

The error code has to do with the sync key of the folder hierarchy. When you
sync a number is exchanged between the device and data end. If you make say
10 changes between 10 different sync's than the device will send 10 back.
What is happening is the device is sending back a number that is way off,
say 4.

At this point there is no way to recover, but to bring down the entire
folder list. Try unselecting mail for sync. Then re-enabling it.

The most common cause of this is resetting the device without adequately
flushing the flash file system's RAM cache.

My situation is somewhat complicated by the fact that I work for Oracle which
uses its own email server. However, I do not believe it is the cause.

I have read some other threads and done everything suggested. I finally
called the support edpartment at Oracle, which does not officially support
ActiveSync, but the rep did help me create a new profile in Outlook.

In the new profile, I started with just File, Favorites, and Email, and it
worked. I then added Task, which also worked. When I add Contact, the same
error came up and I am back to square one.

Just in case anyone is curious, I had the device for 1.5 weeks, and the
first week the device worked fine with all of Outlook. The problem started
when I imported Contacts, Calendar, and Tasks from my former work computer
(through CSV files)

Can you look at the ActiveSync log files to see if an error is being
reported??
They are located in your temp dir. %TEMP%/wces*.log

I can see several errors at the point where I tried to add Contact to sync.
Unfortunately I can's understand the messages and what they are referring to.
Should I try to part of the log in the forum or email it to someone?

Thanks for your help,

Ok, the issue is the RPC calls to the server from Outlook is taking a long
time. How many contacts are there to sync?
