Critical Update changes screen resolution

Please Help.

I have twice now downloaded and installed a Microsoft Critical Update. Both
times successfully. HOWEVER, once the computer is restarted, it looks like
it has restarted in Safe Mode, with very large fonts (I am not sure if it is
actually in Safe Mode though). I do not know how to turn this off. Nor will
the computer allow me to change the screen resolution. (When I do a system
restore, I am able to change the screen reoslution.) If you have any
suggestions, please help.

Thank you

Two posts on 18/4/06 describe how to solve this problem:

See posts with titles similar to:
1. "Dell Inc - Video ..."
2. "Graphics Controller Update ... "

Both offer ways of deleting the driver update and the booting so Windows has
to re-install it as it boots.

One thing that caused me quite a few problems is that I had the RealVNC
software installed and after the update it hung on starting, then would not
let the services database unlock so the driver could be automatically
installed by Windows when I had uninstalled the driver in safe mode fyi.
Still don't know what whacked out the video on the systems though, we've got
about 15 of them in this location I'm working at now that encountered it
though...
