I have a critical update which I cannot install. It's for Microsoft Worrks 8
Security. The Error Code I get is 0x57A.
I went to Add/Remove in the Control Panel to see if I could "repair" Works
by reinstalling with my 5 installation CD's. I can't get through the 1st CD.
I get a "Fatal Error" message. The Message: Error 1402. "Could not open
key:UNKNOWN\.wsb\Works Portfolio file\ShellNew. Verify that you have
sufficient access to that key, or contact your support personnel."
Please advise.

Start a free Windows Update support incident request:
https://support.microsoft.com/oas/de...spx?gprid=6527

For home users, no-charge support is available by calling 1-866-PCSAFETY in
the United States and in Canada or by contacting your local Microsoft
subsidiary. There is no-charge for support calls that are associated with
security updates. When you call, clearly state that your problem is related
to a Security Update and cite the update's KB number (e.g., KB999999).
