Critical update kb889293

As I was downloading update kb889293, my spysweeper program detected a file
"Wextract_cleanup0" as incoming. I allowed it to proceed , in thinking it
was part of the update. However, since then a number of problems have popped
up.
1) My homepage has two whiteout areas with the notation " action cancelled".
2) Cannot enter Pogo.com game rooms (same notation pops up).
3) When I try to update my Spysweeper definitions the program freezes. (No
previous problem)
4) MY Norton Anti-virus program has popped up several times with the
notation "internal problems - uninstall/reinstall program"

Is it possible that these problems are a side effect to the update or did
something else ride in on the back of the download?

I also have a problem with that download. I can not play Pogo either and I've
tried everything I can think of to fix the problem. My suggestion to you is
for one, with Norton, you don't need Spysweeper. Both running together will
greatly slow your computer. I wish I could help with how to retrieve the file
back. I recently had to restore my computer and lost everything all because
of windows updates. If you solve your problem and also with pogo.com. Will
you please let me know.
