critical updates cannot be installed

I have Win XP with SP2, v.1204.
I can install some critical updates such as KB885250, KB888113, etc.
But, some updates cause a problem or cannot be installed at all.
KB885835 - corrupts log in (a system isn't recognizing a previously entered
log in);
KB873333 - makes downloading very slow and finally gives an error about
antivirus software;
KB890047 - gives an error "entry point not found ... the logon user
interface dll msgina.dll failed to load.";
....
Could anybody clarify what I could do with this - just don't install the
problem updates or anything else?

worked for me. If it works for you, I suggest you add it to your favorites
because my experience has shown that this problem will recur! It will delete
your update history (not critical), but it gets the updates to download.
