Critical Updates for Windows 98

Search gets hung up at 0% and nothing ever happens. Have tried all the
MSN Suggestions listed in their on line self help but they either don't work
or in some cases do not list a windows 98 option. Is there anything else I
can do
or I am stuck having to upgrade to XP which probably means a new computer
for me.
