Cross Domain Devices

What are the steps for setting up a device located in a different Domain than
the WSUS server? I didn't believe WSUS was dependent upon "Same Domain" for
devices to perform a check-in. I have a device that has all of the necessary
registry entries for WSUS, not in an Active Directory Domain, but in a Domain
with Trusts rights back to the Domain that the WSUS server resides. Is this
correct?
