Crtical Update Error

When I was doing my Windows updates I got an error saying that the SQL Server
failed to install. I have retried several times since April 3rd.
This is what is trying to install;

Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Express Edition Service Pack 2 (KB 921896)

My system: Toshiba Satellite, Windows XP Home Edition 2002 Service Pack 2
I have Microsoft Office 97 Installed, Microsoft Office 2007 Trial Version
and although I uninstalled Microsoft Works I still a reminder to reinstall
Works. I don't know if the fact that these are installed can be causing some
kind of conflict.

Do I care about this? How do I get it to install correctly?
