Cum Sec Update

I have just done Windows Updates. I seem to have a problem with the
Cumulative Security Update for Internet Explorer 6 Service Pack (KB889293).
After rebooting my computer I get a black screen that states:
- Please wait while Setup updates your confirguration files.
-Windows count not upgrade the file %1 from %2 %1: %2 (This appears
about 10 times on the screen.)
- Windows could not upgrade one or more system files before starting.
- Windows may not start or run properly.
-If Windows fails to start, run SETUP again.
-Press any key to continue.
-Completed updated files.

I was able to get Windows and reconnect to the internet and Windows Updates
Page again to check my updates. When I did, it said I needed this update
installed.
After checking the Installation History, it shows it was installed.

Any suggestions????? I keep getting the message that I need to install
this update.
