Update KB2183461 which the Cumulative Update for W2K3 SP2 for IE6 SP2 is defective.
When trying to install manually it gives the error "Setup cannot copy the
iepeers.dll ". The WU and MU also gives the same error. All other Updates installed
without issue including the Office Updates.
Anybody using XP,Vista,WIN7 have any issues with this KB2183461. All 3 systems using
W2K3 here has the same issue when trying to install

No, because none of my systems are allowed to run IE6. Perhaps it's time
to upgrade to IE 8 ? JK <g>

You can contact MS for no-charge support for issues with KB2183461 but I
don't know the specific contact info for the UK, Peter.

Lol, where in the world did you get the idea I was located in the UK. I am 350 miles
from you to the north.( NYC\Quebec border area) Anyway I called and they did confirm
there is a problem with that update (W2K3 w\IE6) and it will be corrected in the
next 12-24h.
I was just curious if anybody else was running into it with the setup

Thanks Mow

FYI, I've just installed the update successfully on one of my Windows 2003 SP2
systems (with IE6) so this isn't a universal problem.

Harry.

That is strange. Called a couple of other companies here that are also running W2K3
SP2 w\IE 6 SP2 and they are also having the same issue as here with me.
When the install stops and says "Setup cannot copy the iepeers.dll " and the option
comes up to skip the file and continue ,then it installs. But I am a stickler and I
need this issue corrected before I will install this update

I'm not located on the East Coast and you're not in the UK. Will wonders
never cease ? <g> I don't know why I thought you were in the UK, Peter.
Must be your last name ... I know it's not how you spelled "cumilative"
but, since your close to Canada, I'll use that as my excuse.

Did MS say what the issue was with the installation of iepeers.dll ?

Yes they called back right after the report and they said YES and it is a weird
issue since W2K3 contains that dll file and in the correct location.

Another side to my language skills is that I speak and write fluently in 4 languages
(English,French,German,Hungarian) and when I tend to speak and write fast I screw up
each and every language at the time of use. LOL
Learned to live with it.My actual location is Montreal

Received email from MS support to download the update fresh and then try the
install. I downloaded fresh the Cumulative IE Update and it installed without a
hitch today

Odd. Could be a local problem, geographically speaking - perhaps the local MS
server had somehow wound up with a corrupt copy. Mind you, I'm using WSUS, so
perhaps that makes a different too.

Harry.

Harry

It is quite possible that using WSUS did not have the issue. This was the first
issue I had with an Update since 95 and I was caught off guard. After all those yrs
without an issue ,I first started to look at my files if anything corrupted has
caused it. Not until a client of mine phoned me with the same issue that I started
to suspect a faulty upload from MS.
All is well now and another experience to chalk up
