Does anyone have a problem downloading this update in particular via WSUS
server?

Hi,

Im facing the problem as per below.

I have a WSUS setup. I tried downloading the recently released Cumulative
Security Update for Internet Explorer (978207)[Im trying to download the
update for IE6 & IE7] but the download fails.

The ERROR for the IE6 reads as"This update supersedes another update.Before
you decline any superseded update, we recommend that you verify it is no
longer needed by any computers. To do so approve the superseding update
first. The files for this update failed to download. The update can be
approved but will not be available to computers until the download is
complete. Click retry to start the download again"

The INFORMATION for the IE7 reads as"This update supersedes another
update.Before you decline any superseded update, we recommend that you verify
it is no longer needed by any computers. To do so approve the superseding
update first. The files for this update failed to download. The update can be
approved but will not be available to computers until the download is
complete. Click retry to start the download again"

Awaiting a response.

This part is not an error, it's a standard message presented on every
superceded update.

This is the error. The question is: Why did it fail to download.

The answer: is usually found in a log entry in the Application Event Log of
the WSUS Server.
