Cumulative Security Update for Internet Explorer 7 in Windows Vista
(KB937143) Fails

Error Code 80070002

Tried MS solution: to disable update services; delete update files/history
log; enable update services; reinstall.
Have done this several times since update became available several months
ago without success

Finally spent 2 hrs on phone with MS Support. Could not resolve issue.
Suggested Vista Home Premium reinstall

Forums do not discuss other solutions applicable to Vista.

Suggestions other than to reinstall Vista?

Look in the log--activate verbose log if necessary.
Does it show you *which* file cannot be found?

Use ProcMon to supplement update log, verbose or otherwise.

Hi Corky1310,

That update has been superceded by KB939653 as of 9th October 2007. If you
have difficulties in installing this update, then I suggest that you follow
the instructions in my post 'Updating Windows Vista', also in this newsgroup
(dated 10/10/2007).
