Hello:

I got notification today of a new security update :

Cumulative Security Update for Internet Explorer for Windows XP (KB918899)

I downloaded, installed and rebooted.

The download and install process seemed of lesser duration than I would have expected.

My Update History as shown on the MS Update Web site shows it was installed today--Sept 13 via Automatic Update.

However, I don't see this Cumulative Update in the Add/Remove of the Control Panel.

Belarc Advisor doesnt list it either..

What might be the reason for this?

TIA

-Eli

Windows XP Professional Edition SP2
IE 6.0.2900.2180

A brief note on my earlier post:

I do see KB918899 in both Belarc Advisor and the Control Panel's Add/Remove.

BUT, it is the August 8 version of that security update. The Sept 13 version I installed today isn't showing.

KB918899 has *not* been re-released for Windows XP *SP2* since its initial
release on August 8. It has been re-released for IE 6 *SP1* (and IE 5.01 SP4),
but *not* for IE 6 ("SP2") on Windows XP SP2.

Bye,
Freudi

Thanks Freudi:

That seems toexplain it, except that it's listed again in the

"Review your update history" at:

http://update.microsoft.com/microsof....aspx?ln=en-us

It's [KB918899] listed as installed on both August 6 and Sept 13.

I do use IE 6.0 SP2

Is this anything to be concerend about?

And you definitly didn't uninstall KB918899 via "Software" manually
during that period?

Anyway, there's *no* updated version of KB918899 for IE 6 "SP2"
available nor released by Microsoft.

Bye,
Freudi
