curious and most annoying drive problem

Ever since the update my drives just will not read cds or some dvds.
as far as one drive is concerned they are blank media, the other says that
they have a file format that windows does not recognise.
audio cds...NOPE
cdrs..........NOPE
if its a cd windows cant read it.
Oh it knows there is a cds there..the drives turn and then the name of the
cd comes up on "my computer" window. But when you explore the cd nothing.

Also some dvds, not all, just some also do exactly the same.

ran anti-viral programs, changed the drives, all the cables are nice and
tight and there had been no problem till the last update.


I have used 4 different drives all 4 give exactly the same problem.

Has this happend to any one else?

Yet another problem added to the list of chaos that this update has caused
