Current updates

I keep getting a info box titled Windows Installer that says Preparing to
install. This box comes up on every MS program, word, excell, IE, etc., when
I open them. This started after the updates last weekend.

Updates Windows search 4.0 KB940157 and Vista update KB955020 and the
defender updates on 7/16-25/08

Aggrivating waiting for the box to go away.
Help...
