Cursor Moving to unwanted location

Hi-
I'm running Vista Home Premium with 1.75GB of RAM on a laptop computer.

Often, as I type, even though I am nowhere near the mouse pad, the cursor
moves to whatever insertion point it wants to and then, of course, my typing
is being inserted in the wrong place.

This is really hard on productivity.

Is there some setting that can stop this from occurring?

Just for the heck of it, make sure you have the latest mouse/trackpad device
driver installed on your laptop and go into those device properties and make
sure all the options and features you like are selected properly. What make
and model of laptop?
