Cypress AT2LP RC42 hardware not found after Windows updated

I have had my external hard drive for a couple months now and yesterday I
installed a new windows update for XP pro SP2. Now windows says new hardware
found "Cypress AT2LP RC42" and my external hdd is not detected. I tried
removing the updates from control panel but the problem still exists. Please
help me. Thank you
