D drive (recovery)

I noticed this drive is filling up do I need to do any maintance. It is 1/2
full. Thanks

Is user created data being stored on it? It should not be filling up since
its a designated store for your factory recovery settings.

If that is the recovery partition, it shouldn't be filling up, because
nothing should be going into it.
It should only contain an image of the original OS installation, and it
should have been hidden.

Unfortunately, HP does not hide this partition and people tend to save to it.

HP is not the only one, My brother and sister-in-law Dells both display
their Recovery partitions in Computer Explorer and a friends Gateway also
does the same.

As most people who have replied to this post have said, the D: (in your case)
drive is the recovery drive and, with a few exceptions of manufacturer, is
usually hidden. As this is a 'recovery' drive put there simply for the
purpose of 'recovering' your system should anything go awry the only data
that should be on this drive is the backup image of the operating system and
nothing else. If you are saving files yourself to this partition i suggest
you remove your personal files and save them to a dvd or, alternatively,
create another partition to save them to.
