D-Link DWL-G520+ Connection Problem

Hi,

Has anyone managed to get the D-Link DWL-G520+ card working in Vista with
the XP drivers?

I'm using the v2.04 Ax driver from www.dlink.co.uk and it installs fine, but
the card won't connect to my router properly.

My router is a Netgear DG834G, set to wireless channel 11 and to
automatically give out IP addresses.

When Vista reports that my card has connected to the router the card has an
IP address of 169.254.50.18 even though my router is giving out IP address
from 192.168.0.2 and upwards. This suggests that the card hasn't connected
to the router properly. Setting the IP address manually doesn't help.

Also, when I look at the connection status it is sending out data but never
receiving any back.

One last thing i've noticed is that in the event viewer I keep getting this
error:

Microsoft-Windows-WLAN-AutoConfig

Wireless network connection failed.

Network SSID: apple
BSS Type: Infrastructure
Failure Reason: Driver disconnected.

which probably isn't very good.

This setup works fine under XP.

Anyone have any ideas or suggestions?

Thanks

Gavin

You'll get it with Windows Update. Have a look at Optional update.

Hi,

Thanks for the reply.

Unfortunately, if I run Windows Update it doesn't find that update (it says
my PC is up to date) and I can't see how to search for it.

If I try and update the driver manually Vista tells me my driver is up to
date.

If you're sure that the latest driver is not already installed then go to
the D-link site and download it and manually install it through the Device
Manager.
