When Mail wants to compress the mails, an error message appears that the
program is unable to clean the Windows Mail directory. The Archive of Windows
Mail is possibly damaged. It is advised to use ScanDisk to repair the files.
Where can I find ScanDisk in Windows Vista ?

Try compacting and repairing the database using my Windows Mail Utility
(www.oehelp.com/WMUtil/). See if that fixes it. If not, then post back.

Also see www.oehelp.com/OETips.aspx#3

Yes I did use your program. Now Vista Mail does not start at all. The error
message says that a virusscanner is active. I did disable the scanners
(Mcafee and Spamfighter). There si another error message that the MSOE.dll
can not be initilised.

What do now ?

As I told you in another thread ("Can not start Windows Mail"), you
will need to uninstall anything "McAfee".
