Jody,
Could be IE is set to dump Temporary Internet Files (TIF) when IE is closed.
Which is a good, secure practice since malware writers do like to write
files to IE's cache (TIF) and have them execute from there.
In the Control Panel is Internet Options. Open that when IE is closed.
Click on the Advanced tab.
Scroll down towards the bottom to the " Security " heading.
Under there is an option to " Empty TIF folder when browser is closed "
Is that selected ?
Unless you are still using dial up, it's more secure to have IE empty
the TIF when closing it.
You can view the properties of SAIX by using My Computer or Windows
Explorer and navigating to the WINDOWS\Downloaded Program Files folder.
Locate the ActiveX object, right click it, and choose Properties.
Next to " CodeBase " is the URL ( web address ) of where the Object came
from.
Copy and paste the " ID " into the Search window on this page to
determine if it is Safe or not :
http://www.castlecops.com/ActiveX.html
If there is no result for it, try on Google.
If there is *no* information on it then I would right click it and
choose Remove as it's better to be safe than sorry.
Should one of the sites you visit require the Object, it will be
reloaded with your approval only. The yellow bar at the top will appear
and prompt you to install it.
