Dancing Windows

A new installation of Vista Ultimate has dancing windlws.
I turned off areo and I still get this.
Evey once in a while my desktop goes crazy and windows jump and expand.
I have to boot to clear this.
I have a Intel Core 2 Quad 2.4 GHz processor, 2GH 800 Mhz memory.
I see no error messages.
How do I get to an error log that may show me the information to help solve
this?

Update your video drivers.

did that frst thing.
It is not related.
It only happens if I leave the Windows startup window open.
If I close that immediately, then I do not see the problem.
I run Media Center, watch TV, do all kinds ofstuff and do not have the
problem if I close that first window.
