when downloading xp sp2 I receive an error copying file
dataspec.xml. Cannot copy file to destination
directory. File name, directory name or volume label
syntax is incorrect...anyone?

I get that same message this morning when i got the automatic update im not
sure whats wrong i've even tried looking for a toubleshooting guid but even
that not really helpful

I have the same problem. Hopefully, someone can help...

Add me to the list of SP2 victims.

I'm getting that exact error. When I cancel and try to uninstall SP2 I
also get an error that the uninstall failed.

I am getting the same proble. I used the update disc and then went to the
update site and it happened both times. I have sent an error report to
Microsoft as my system appears to be half way between the new update and the
old system.
