I am trying to use dcdiag on a Windows Server 2008 R2 Server Core without
success. I have copied the DCDIAG.exe file from a Windows Server 2008 R2
Full Server to the server core machine and tried to run, however it fails
with an error as show below:

c:\Windows\System32>dcdiag /?
Resource ID 0x604 not found.
Unable to print Resource ID 0x604 .
Unable to print Resource ID 0x604 .

CheckSecurityError
Message 0xc000183b not found.
Resource ID 0x62d not found.

Unable to print Resource ID 0x62d .

However if i map a drive from Server Core machine to the Windows Server 2008
R2 machine and then run dcdiag from the mapped drive it runs fine.

I want to use dcdiag to run some tests before promoting a server core
machine to a DC. The command i want to run is dcdiag /Test:dcpromo
/DnsDomain:<DomainName> /NewForest

Please let me know how i can use the copied dcdiag on server core. Is there
any dll registeration that needs to be done??

Hello Venkat,

Did you also copy the corresponding dcdiag.exe.mui file? You should have
dcdiag.exe located in C:\windows\system32 and C:\windows\syswow64 and dcdiag.exe.mui
in C:\windows\system32\en-us and C:\windows\syswow64\en-us or your language
fodlers.

Best regards
