Please, why will you not allow PCers who happend to get stuck with VISTA home
editions to "downgrade" to XP ?????????????

This is exactly the reason why MAC is going to eventually stomp a mud hole
in your company!

Please oh please allow us to get XP on our newer PCs. Because honestly VISTA
stinks!

And no i should'nt have to add processor speed or RAM to my "new" machine in
order to get it operate properly!

"Please oh please allow us to get XP on our newer PCs"
Nothing to allow since people continue to be able to purchase
computers with windows XP.
If your computer supplier does not sell computers with windows XP,
find another that meets your needs.
Many sell computers with Windows XP including dell, Toshiba and a
nearly countless number of local shops.

Not expecting your hardware needs to increase with new and more powerful
software is nieve at best. People wanted and improvement and a change
from XP. Eveyone was screaming "Where is our new windows" XP is 6 years
old and we need something new!! You get it and dont expect to have do a
little house cleaning and improvement to make it at home in your 4 year
old rig?? Imagine the dust alone! If you dont want a change of hardware
then keep running XP until your existing hardware ultimately dies. Then
you will have no choice but to get new hardware. The new OS from Apple
has similar requirements as Vista. And from the blogs I've read, many
more and worse problems then Vista ever had.

So your prayer is reality, you dont have to upgrade. Stick with you
pentium 2 CPU and your 64mb of PC133 ram. Windows 98 anyone?

But JJ a lot of people believe that XP is being forcibly phased out,
which has been said previously. Not all know that XP got a stay of
execution. We may disagree but MS do need to take these comments into
account IMHO ...

Please explain what Vista does better than XP apart from boost your ego
when showing off your mediocre technical expertise to your even more
mediocre friends?

Using an OS as a prop for your flagging ego is a popular pastime around
here, as is boasting about your vast knowledge based upon "Blogs I've
Read". Just what you presume to gain from your pointless attempts to
throw scorn at Microsoft's paying customers I am not sure, but in
reality you only make yourself look like an arrogant fool.

Most of the real knowledgeable people here (Including Bill Gates) began
with far less than you stated rather mockingly above, and it is with
those people that the real technical expertise resides, not with
arrogant fools whose knowledge of box building is based upon throwing
money at the thing.

The stay only affected distribution, not support.
Support has not changed except a while back when support for Home was
extended to align with Pro.

Well yeah, but it's kinda like "Last years model" now so people are
naturally going to be reluctant and feel they must go for Vista... I
mean considering W2000 stopped all work more or less it would cost
virtually nothing to keep selling it very cheap... as XP approaches that
stage costs to produce it are more or less raw materials only but
profits include user satisfaction and brand loyalty. Sure there is a
trade off and maybe we disagree where the line should be drawn but I
think as a PR exercise MS could do better

There will be a time when someone will take M/S to court for selling an
un-supported operating system, don't you think!

Support always ends on older products. It the way of the world. When can
you safely stop selling them to protect yourself.
