The mistake made on irreverent which should be *irrelevant* also
demonstrated a perfect example of UAC for not being useful.

As a user, I took the spelling check for granted, and when it pop up, I just
click Yes. Oops, mistake but too late

I wouldn't,
Sony aren't stupid enough to sell a machine where they all crash every day
so yours is broken.
You need to take it back for repair/replacement and they won't like ubuntu
on there as they won't be able to test it.
By all means try it if you want, but you will probably have to put windows
back.

Thanks for the support Xfile I do try to see a bigger picture and yes,
will argue with anybody, having re read this thread I don't think any
deliberate insult was intended. I did think so at first so I reacted
pretty harshly, but we all say things differently and interpret things
differently and prolonging this doesn't help the OP.

As for the reference to Visual Studio I know Delphi had been mentioned
but thought VS was also included, if I am mistaken about that I apologize.

Sorry, I realize I was somewhat rude myself.
I guess I will have to stick with Vista unless something better (more
user friendly) comes along.

Well maybe they do, but problem is when you want to buy high end or some
special build you are often stuck with default system they give you and its
even worse with Notebooks.
For example on my desktop i have Vista (and it took a lot of patience not
just take whole PC and throw it from window because of UAC and many other
hide things)
For example i do not understand why UAC is even defautly on for
administrator account (clicking OK every 10 seconds was quite annoing).
Other thing i dont like is that wista is accesiing drive for defrag building
indexes and many other things and its usualy doing in not friendly times (at
2AM at night it can do a lot of noice with HDD heads seeking especialy with
several 15k rpm sas drives) i would prefer have easy setings when system
should do all this stuff instead of going thru tens of settings in diferent
parts of system.
Another thing is Vista is limiting my Adaptec Raid performance to
123-125MB/s (gues maybe limiting by controler cache 128Mb ? ) instead of
260-489MB/s it do under older system.
I am not saying Vista is only bad, but there is still many things to work
out in it.

And why its lately so painfull find system without OS so i dont pay for os i
will not use (As SAP administrator i need to work on both unix/linux and
windows to get experience and to be able pass SAP sertification) From 50
diferent notebooks passed my HW requirements only 3 was posible to get
without OS and 2 of them was too much expensive.

There is still one catch i was unable to manage in Vista, how to get acces
to shared folders from other computers and other systems ?
