Dec 5 updates from MS - Vista?

Last night (Dec 5) I went to Windows Update and was told an update exists
for Windows Defender.
I attempt to update, receive that 'red bar' in update, and try again. This
time I am told I am up to date.

I did this several times and each time I am told I am up to date. Was I the
only one to receive a Windows Defender update that vansihed into thin air?

Thanks, DH

One more thing - I juts now looked in Update History and see two indentical
entries for Dec 6 -

Definition Update for Windows Defender KB915597 (Defination 1.23.4485.0)

So, it would appear I did update last night, did so two times as well. Is
there something screwy with this particular update?

Defender was already in the process of installing the update
when you manually triggered an update request. Since it hadn't
finished installing yet it still showed as needed. Your manual
attempt aborted because a defender automatic was already in
progress. The second time you tried the manual update,
defender had completed the automatic installation so now
it was no longer required.

You can always manually update Defender using the link in the right-hand
pane here: http://www.microsoft.com/security/portal/

Direct-download link for 32-bit (x86):
http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?Link...14&clcid=0x409

Definitions v1.23.4526.0 (05 Dec-07) is available via the link as I post
this reply.
