Got something for you. If you feel comfortable editing the registry, browse
to:

HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Exp lorer\Shell Folders

You'll just love all the options you get!

In general saving folders to the desktop is not reccomended
You can create a shortcut to My Pictures on the desktop, if you like a
cluttered desktop

Had to use "User Shell Folders" instead of "Shell Folders" in the same
location, but worked like a charm.

Just for others... once at User Shell Folders, double click My Pictures on
the right side and in my case I added \Desktop to the end and now when I
right click save pictures as it goes to my desktop so I can edit and then
move to a more appropriate folder.

I like to use my desktop (which for DL) is completely icon free as my
workspace.

Many Thanks!!!

Saving "Folders" to the desktop??? Where do you get this in my question?
And.. if I wanted generally not recommended information I would have asked
for. Just try and answer the question next time.

DL is telling you that it is not good practice to save actual files to the
desktop. Icons get deleted by accident. Some Cleanup Programs will sometimes
delete icons on the desktop that have not been used for a while.

I also counsel against this practice. You get nothing extra that placing a
shortcut to the file will not give you.

Anyway, you found out how to do what you wish to do.

Have fun and lighten up a bit. (-:
