Hi,

Sometimes when I install a program the installer starts with asking me
to put in name and organization and my name and organization is
normally already put in, However, on my new HP Vista fed laptop the
default name put in is "user1" and the organization is "HP. I seem to
remember that it was my own name on XP. How do I change this in Vista?

I don't think there is any way to change these, through the normal user
interface.

The Owner and Organization are stored in the Registry, under
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion

The values are called "RegisteredOwner" and "RegisteredOrganization".

Run regedit as administrator, navigate to the RegisteredOwner value, and
double-click to modify it. Change it to your desired value. Repeat for
RegisteredOrganization. Click OK and exit Regedit. When you reboot, the new
value will be displayed.

Hope it helps!

You don't want it to use your real name. Always use anonymous info unless it
is essential for some reason that you use your real name.
