Default programs - and Office 2007

Ever since the last 'patch' two days ago, I notice that my portable
(Vista Business) has its default programs re-set.

So when I double click on an .xls file, instead of my Excel 2002, I get
the office 2007 version poping up, urging me to upgrade.
(The same behaviour with Word,

As I have no intention of doing so (succumbing to nagging), I'd
appreciate any pointers as to how I can re-set programs to their
original default.

I notice that on the add/remove utility there is something called -
'Microsoft Office 2007 Primary Interop Assemblies' - is this the
busy-body program creating the nags? Can I uninstall this without
affecting anything else?

Thansk

It appears to be, but I am not certain.

I'd create a Restore Point and call it something like "Office 2007 Primary"
then I'd remove the program through Add/Remove. Run your system a day or two
and if no problems leave it uninstalled.

Do you know what patch you install a few days ago?

Hmmm, well I looked again and appears to have come out fro Office2003.
Primary Interop Assemblies (PIA) redistributable is a Microsoft Windows
Installer package that contains the Primary Interop Assemblies for Microsoft
Office 2003 products.

Not sure why you have that installed and as before I would uninstall it.
