defender freezes computer

windows defender completed a quickscan recently and then asked me what to do
with the 2 items detected and I select the recommended options then about 10
minutes later my computer completely freezes and i have to turn it off
manually.

I am using defender definition 1.20.2743.1
The 2 items are Browser Modifier:Win32/Toolbar888 (quarantine)
and Browser Modifier:Win32/Matcash (remove)

Boot into safe mode (F-8)

Suggest cleaning up the system (clearing out all the Temp/Tmp folders, and
included all offline content, clearing the browser TIF, Delete Cookies , do a
Disk CleanUp.

Run a Full scan with WD also scan with your antivirus.
