defender keeps shutting off

A window keeps popping up three times a day and says defender is off . I open
the options tab and reclick one of the checks and click save to turn back on.
Why does defender keep shutting off? I have checked all the boxes to keep it
running. Can someone help?

Please check the event log (Start->Run->Eventvwr.msc) for events from the
service control manager in the system lºg.

There should be an event in for the WinDefend service.

There's a little "copy" button in the event viewer when you select an event,
if you paste that here, we can prºbably help.

yes,i am running windows live one care but have not activated the program
because of the amount of money they want.
the free trial is over.

That makes no sense whatsoever. Why would microsoft release 2 security
components that conflict with each other when they are both touted by
Microsoft as integral to the security of one's pc? Or am i just being naive
about Microsoft?
