defrag error 1285

I have installe Me on my new computer, but defrag does not work
it stops after 4%, saying : error 001285 - use scansisk
Scandisk does not detect anything
What can i do ?

Is this a new hard drive? If not, try booting up from dos and run chkdsk /r.
See if this works. ME is a very funky o/s. I had ME on my computer and it
lasted less than 2 mos, and then upgrading to WIN2K Pro. Good luck and
hopefully this works.
