I have a friend who has Windows Vista, and can not seem to find defrag?

It is pretty easy in xp. I searched briefly on ms site, but
was not much help.

Thanks Bruce

In Vista it's on permanently, and defrags when the machine is idle. Your
friend doesn't need to do anything...

Vista defragments as a weekly scheduled background task. It is set to run at
1 am. If your machine is turned off at that time, it will run when you turn
your machine on. You can change the schedule if you like. Go to Start -
Control Panel and type Defrag in the search box and under Administrative
Tools, select Defragment your hard disk and change the scheduled time.

You can also find Defragment by: Start - Computer. Right click drive C: (for
example), select Properties, select Tools, select Defragment. This is almost
identical to XP except that in XP there is My Computer and in Vista it is
just Computer.

Gordon is a bit S.L.O.W. He needs to seek psychiatric help.

Hey P

And Gordon answered correctly. If you know a better answer which you seem to
indicate then by all means answer the OP.

Carey did. But Gordon is correct. Not needed to run manually.

LOL. Another name from the vault ?
