This isn't corruption. There are certain files which do not appear in the defragmenter as
files. For instance, if your master file table has become fragmented you'll get this message
but since the MFT is not listed as a file, the list is empty.
One thing installing Windows Live Messenger will do is turn on the NTFS USN log for the
Sharing Folders feature. The USN log of course can be fragmented which is why you may be
seeing it after installing Messenger. Having the USN log is pretty standard nowadays (as
soon as a program tries to access it, it's automatically switched on) and is on by default in
Vista (for the search indexer).
To defragment all these things, you'll need to use PerfectDisk or something similar.
