Defragmenting

Out of nowhere noe everytime i go to defrag, it takes forever to get there
and then gets to 1 or 2 percent and then stops and then restarts over and
over and over again, i let it do this for hours just to see what would
happen, just keep restarting, what is going on?!!!! HELP

This appears to be a problem unrelated to Windows Update. Might I suggest
the following newsgroups?

microsoft.public.windowsxp.general

and

microsoft.public.windowsxp.help_and_support
