Delay when clicking after PC has sat idle!

Hello, I have 2 duplicate Dell XPS-410 PCs, both running Vista Home
Premium. After letting one of the computers idle for 1/2 hour or
more, I've noticed that double clicking on an icon to start a program
or clicking on any Internet link results in approx. a 10-second delay
before anything happens! After this first delay, everything functions
normally until the PC has been allowed to sit idle for awhile again.

The mouse drivers are the latest Intelli-Point 6.1 drivers from
Microsoft. All of the parameters for the 2 mice are set up exactly
the same so I don't think the problem is mouse drivers. This problem
affects only 1 computer, the other operates normally at all times. Can
anyone tell me what might be causing this delay problem?

Is the computer set to turn off the hard drive for x-mins?

I checked and both computers were set to sleep in 20 minutes with no
activity. That's strange since only 1 computer was giving me
problems, but I set the parameters on both PC's to 00 (never sleep).
This did NOT solve the problem. So I went into the Advanced Power
Saving Options and set every single "Plug" parameter to never sleep,
which seems to have resolved the issue.

I have no idea which option was the culprit, but it's certainly a
relief to have that problem behind me . . . thanks for pointing me in
the right direction Paul!
