I am fed up with Vista telling me that I don't have permission to delete
such and such a file. I know I can go into the file properties and modify
the user acces the delete the file but I am fed up with doing this.

How can I set Vista so I can do exactly what I want on my own computer. I am
the only person who uses it and am fed up with being told I need
authorisation from an administrator etc!!

Ric,
See if this helps you turn off the UAC control in control panel>user
accounts>double click there you will be able to turn on and off uac,you will
have to reboot after turning off. This will stop permission popups etc.
Hope this helps ric.
Regards

Hi Ric,

You can enable and use the real built-in Administrator account when you
want full control over Vista. This will show you how to enable it.

FYI- That security is there because many shady programs do their dirty
work by convincing the OS that they are you.

You make it sound like there is absolutely no other time ever that you
manipulate your own property (ie. money in your bank account) without
being asked to verify you are who you say you are.

Lol, if the Savings & Loan ran like Vista it would go like this:

At the front door present biometric identification proving your
identity. When you stop at the writing station you need to show a passport
to be allowed to use the pen which remains chained to the desk by a chain
just a little too short for you to be able to write with it. On your way
to the line for a teller a guard stops you and asks you for your passport,
but she can't read it. She screams "Security error!" and ejects you from
the bank. After once again presenting the proper biometrics you try again
and this time she passes you with no questions. The teller asks to see your
driver's license when you present your check. Then she asks to see it when
she counts out the first bill. She asks for it again when she counts out
the second bill. She asks for it again when she counts out the third bill.
She asks for it again... When you get all 10 twenties you ask her why she
didn't deposit the check as you had asked and she replies that you don't
have privileges for that and informs you that you'll need to get in the
elevated privileges line. After presenting your driver's license twice
more you get to that teller, who informs you that he can't find your account
and that his window must close now.

I'm in my own home, in front of my own computer. I should be able to do what
the hell I want without being nagged.

Thanks - that's not the problem. I worked out how to turn UAC off withing 20
secs of booting up Vista for the first time - UAC has to be the stupidest
idea ever!!

95, 98, Me, W2K and XP all had a *My* Computer icon on the desktop. Now
you have a "Computer" icon. Tell you anything?

probably because labeling it "Ballmer's Computer" would have been a bit
much...
