delete failed installation files in windows\installer

Would somebody assists me in regaining disk space from the failed installed
log?

By chance, I found that there is a windows\installer directory out there
that is growing to over 10Gbyte, more than all my systems files and personal
files combined. My update log showed that I had a few failed installation
EVERYDAY for the past year. There was a problem with updates to office 2003
which was a known problem that I did not bother to fix. The automatic daily
update option was disabled.

My questions are: 1) how do I display windows\installer in Explorer? I
managed to display it only in cmd mode.
2) How to reclaim spaces of those failed installation downloads in the
windows\installer directory?
