Delete list of updates downloaded?

I am trying to run Windows Update on an WinXPP machine. Win update says that
there 8 updates to apply and that they are already downloaded. However, when
I try to install them, the install fails on all 8.

Is there a way I can delete the list of files downloaded and restart the
download/install process?
Thanx,
CB

Locate in your hard disk the folder SoftwareDistribution and delete its
content.

Jose,
Thank you for your prompt reply.

To resolve this issue, I used the iereg.bat program to register all the
required programs that Torgeir Bakken referenced in one of his posts. Worked
very nicely.

After I did this, I tried the installation which failed again but this time
I was referred to the Installation history and was able to find an error code
for the failing files. With this, I was directed to stop the update service
and then delete the files in the Datastore subdirectory of the Software
Distribution directory. After doing this, I was able to receive and install
all the downloads.

Thanks again for your help
