It will not delete messages that have been downloaded prior to the change.
In other words it deletes them immediately after downloading. If it has
already been downloaded the message will stay there. You will need to use
the web access to the mail server and delete from there.

To add to Michael W's response.
If a pop3 account, once configured in WLM to delete off the server upon download, new messages will be deleted(moved from the web
server inbox to the web server deleted folder and purged automatically after 'x' days or immediately or when you access the web
account on the web server and delete them).

I am missing something when trying to setup WLM. I want the email messages
deleted from the server when they are downloaded. Is there a way to do
this?

Hi, Bill.

Even after the messages have been deleted from the server, any that you have
already downloaded will still remain on your own computer's hard drive and
can be read in your WLM. You have several ways to delete them from your
computer, of course. One way - which many users do UNintentionally - is to
Remove that Mail Account. This pops up an easily overlooked warning that
removing the account will also remove all downloaded messages in your Inbox
for that account.
