Can I use Disk Management in Ultimate 64 to delete the 1st partition on the
drive - OEM Partition?
Dell XPS Gen 5 computer - Western Digital 74 GB Raptor drive.

No.. Windows can't delete itself..


NOT the Windows partition - the OEM partition (180MB) before it on the
drive.
Windows is on the 2nd partition.

Vista may not be able to, you may need a 3rd party app.

I have Acronis Disk Director I can install, and 3 other HDs to fool around
with - I'll get'er done somehow.

Be careful. I did this on my HP Pavilion computer and completely hosed
Windows. Computer couldn't find Windows on boot up as it was now on a
differently-labeled drive. Fortunately I had an Acronis True Image
backup available.

Check with Dell to see if they have a utility that deletes the restore
partition.

I got it deleted - for matted it - now just have to make it ''ACTIVE"
I have 4 HDs in the machine - this is an experiment - fun stuff ;-)

I do this with every system I get, I hate all the "crapware" OEM's
install, I do a fresh install of Ultimate that I have here, just delete
the partition and install as normal.
