I have a friend that has deleted all his icons in his Administrative Tool
folder and was wondering if it is possible to get them all back. We tried to
do a repair using the windows xp professional sp1 disk but since he
downloaded the xp pro sp2 upgrade the disk does not work, it tells him that
the disk he is using is an older version and cannot do a repair. He was going
to uninstall sp2 and try again but was told that if he does that some
programmes will be deleted. can we uninstall sp2 and run the repair on his
sp1 disk or do we have to reinstall windows xp pro sp1 again?

If you/he has a CD burner then slipstream the SP1 CD with the full SP2
download and burn a new CD. Do a Google search on slipstreaming for how to
do it.
