Deleted Downloads folder, D'oh!

I accidently deleted my downloads folder, the shell one with the pretty icon,
while I simply created a new folder I can't get the original icon back.

BEFORE, you post about the desktop.ini file, I already tried that and it
isn't working. I even tried chaning themes along with that as one site
suggested, no dice.

I can live this of course since it works fine, but any idea on how to get
the 'special' icon back. Could I be missing something in the desktop.ini
trick?

Thanks!

In addition to having the correct desktop.ini file in the folder, you
need to give the folder the read-only attribute. This has to be done
from the command prompt:

attrib +r downloads

Hi Romanom,

Try this,

1. Open Start Menu.
2. In white line (Start Search) area, type "shell:downloads" (no
quotes) and press Enter.

Check and see if it is back. If not, then you can make a new shortcut
from the Open Window and copy it back to your personal folders again.
Look at this section "How to Make a Shortcut of the Open Location" at
this link for how to do it.

Have you tried to find the icon back via "Change icon" in the folder's
properties?

What do you do if you are unable to shell your downloads folder though?
I can shell every other folder, but that one doesnt do anything. It just
sits there... I can get it to show up blue and all that but it wont give
me that properties tab "Location."

Not sure what your exact problem is, the message you're replying to has
expired from the server, but as a guess, try:
